Waterfalls – Vathres
Samothraki is furrowed by many small and large streams and Waterfalls , emanating from above and eventually flowing into the sea. In their path the creeks form many dreamlike waterfalls which in their turn they form ponds which are known as vathres. In most of them you can swim and they are a popular destination for every visitor of the island. The waterfalls of samothrace are named as Vathres too.The well-known vathres are those of Tsivdogianni River near Therma from where climbing to Mount Feggari begins. The largest stream of the island is Fonias with the highest waterfall (Kleidosi) reaching 35 meters. Other equally impressive waterfalls are those of Karya, Kakia Plaka, Kremasto, Giali, Agistros, Xiropotamos, Karagiannakis, Platia and Arapis.
