Hot springs – Spas

One of the characteristics of Samothraki that makes it widely known, are the available sulfurous springs. In the village Therma Loutra, which owes its name to the existence of these sources, there are facilities with hot sulfurous springs. The thermal spas have healing properties and are beneficial for chronic disease such as rheumatoid arthritis, chronic rheumatic conditions, peripheral vascular disease, secondary skin conditions, gynecological conditions and obesity. The water of these sources is hypotonic, superheated and contains the following minerals: K, Na, Ca, Cl, Br, B, J. Spas facilities have two swimming-pools, one for men and one for women, and individual baths. They operate from late June to late October, while in the next few years the upgrade of this place to a hydrotherapy center of European specifications is expected and it will be open throughout the year.
